Expert Group Meeting on Advancing Implementation of CEDAW in Pakistan being organized jointly by the Ministry of Women Development and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) on 18th December, 2008 in Crown Plaza, Blue Area, Islamabad from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Two distinguished guests from the South Asian region who are CEDAW experts and who have been especially invited by the UNIFEM to share their expertise with you all. These experts include:

1. Ms Ferdous Ara Begum, UN CEDAW Expert Committee Member

2. Ms Aisha Mohamad Didi, Former Minister for Gender and Family, Republic of Maldives and CEDAW expert

The Expert Group Meeting aims at:

- sharing good practices across the region on CEDAW implementation

- discussing specific areas of CEDAW implementation in Pakistan

- discussing CEDAW reporting mechanism – tips on dos and don’ts

- strengthening coordination and networking between various actors working on CEDAW
